How to Determine if a Printer Driver is Compatible with a Linux System
Note: Before using a Linux printer driver, a compatibility check is required.
I. Check System Compatibility
1. Verify the Linux distributions supported by the driver, such as Ubuntu, Debian, Kylin, etc., and check the compatible kernel version.
2. Confirm that the hardware architecture is compatible (x86_64, ARM64). Incompatible architectures will cause the driver to fail to run.
3. Check driver dependencies: Confirm that the system's CUPS printing service and related runtime library versions meet the driver's requirements.
II. Pre-Installation Checks
1. Confirm that the driver supports the currently used printer hardware model.
2. Confirm that the system's CUPS printing service is running normally. Linux printing functionality depends on the CUPS component.
3. Check that all dependencies required by the driver are installed on the system. Missing dependencies will cause the driver to fail to load.
III. Post-Installation Functionality Verification (Final Judgment Criteria)
1. The system can correctly recognize the printer device, with no errors such as "device unknown" or "recognition failure".
